**About the Role**
**Full time - Ongoing** **(multiple positions)**

The Media Lead will work closely with journalists and internal and external stakeholders to deliver engaging content on a range of operational and policy issues.

To be considered for this role you will need to have experience in media issues management and/or significant journalism experience and demonstrate strong writing, story-telling, relationship building and critical thinking skills.

The role demands an ability to clearly and accurately convey complex information in simple language to tight deadlines and keep calm under pressure.

**Position Outcomes**
- Develop and lead strategies for key Departmental business areas, projects and programs as defined by an account management portfolio.
- Provide sound media and communications advice to senior managers and executives, including preparing and briefing key spokespeople for media interviews.
- Build strong working relationships with key media contacts to negotiate with and influence them to ensure key messages are accurately reflected in media coverage.
- Deliver high quality media events, including developing event material such as speeches and running sheet, coordinating event logistics and identifying strong visual opportunities for photography and television.

**KEY SELECTION CRITERIA**

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**:
**Mandetory**
- An appropriate tertiary qualififcation or equivalent in journalism, public relations, communications, or a similar discipline

**Desirable**
- Experience in leading small team or mentoring and supporting other team members. An ability to suport the media manager, including possible backfill opportunities, would be desirable
