**About the role**

The Department of Parliamentary Services is recruiting for a passionate, customer focused Security Coordinator to supervise, roster and lead a team of Security Officers.

As the Security Coordinator, you will ensure all security posts at Parliament House are appropriately staffed and all day-to-day security processes are performed to a high standard.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Leading and supervising a team of skilled Security Officers, while providing regular training on security procedures and equipment
- Creating work rosters ensuring all posts are staffed and ensuring all team members are appropriately briefed
- Coordinating security contractors as required, as well as building and maintaining relationships with service providers
- Coordinating the maintenance of all security screening equipment at Parliament House
- Assist in the collection and presentation of statistical data that accurately represents the team's output

Typically, you will work a 7 hour and 36 minute shift between the hours of 6:30am and 5:00pm, Monday-Friday. The nature of this role may require you to work a 7 hour and 36 minute shift between the hours of 6:30am and 10:00pm to support security services at the iconic Victorian Parliament House building.

**About you**

We are looking for a security professional with prior experience supervising and motivating a team within a similar security environment.

You will have good working knowledge and ability to train others on security requirements for security checkpoints and buildings including electronic security systems and screening devices such as baggage scanning and walk-through detection.

You have skills to:

- Develop complex work rosters to meet different service needs and communicate them effectively
- Be organised and have the ability to self-manage and prioritise tasks
- Proactively resolve issues
- Be an escalation point and handle sensitive situations in a diplomatic manner
- Communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse range of people
- Assist staff, visitors, and guests to make sure they have a positive experience
- Work well under a degree of pressure and contribute effectively as a team member
- Undertake a range of administrative tasks and prepare a range of correspondence, including reports

**Required qualifications**

To be considered, you must have a valid Private Security Individual Licence and Certificate II in Security Operations.

**It's a bonus if you**:

- have a Crowd Control Licence
- have a Certificate III in Security Operations
- have 2+ years' experience in a similar leadership role
- speak a second language
