
Apprentice Support Officer

Chisholm Institute, as a participating TAFE Institute is contracted to provide Apprenticeship Support Officers (ASO) to support the successful participation and completion of the apprenticeships undertaken under the guidelines of the Victorian Government’s Department of Training and Education.
The Apprenticeship Support Officer is a key and active participant of the Student Support and Engagement business area and provides support to apprentices working in the designated zone that Chisholm Institute manages.
The role requires travel across various different locations mostly in Southeast Peninsula. You will also need Current Australian Driver’s Licence and your own well maintained vehicle to travel across to different Chisholm campuses.
**Key Accountabilities include**:
- Manage a caseload of apprentices and act as a key liaison and advisor to apprentices
- Assist apprentices to quickly resolve issues arising with stakeholders in that relationship
- Provide mentoring and support whilst referring apprentices to liaise with personal support agencies
- Develop and maintain a strong customer-focused approach to the delivery of timely, accurate and appropriate information and expert advice to various stakeholders.
- Gather, record and maintain accurate and timely data entry using designated IT systems. Complete workplace visits during placements to support students and enhance learner skills.
- Liaise with key stakeholders such as employers, schools and other education providers to explore pathway options for learners
**ABOUT YOU**
You will have qualifications, skills, and experience in:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and related industry experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and training
- Sound knowledge and familiarity of the Victorian Vocational Education and Training sector including the role of RTOs and Australian Apprenticeship Support Networks
- Sound knowledge of, and experience working within, the apprenticeship field
- Well-developed customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously and to use own initiative
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to self-manage caseloads
- The ability to respond to emergency situations that occur during out of hours, including evenings and weekends
