Quality Manager

Downer has been selected as preferred applicant to deliver Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), the largest investment in new rollingstock in Queensland history. Design, build, and maintenance of 65 brand new trains, design and build of a manufacturing facility on Fraser Coast of Queensland, design and build of a train depot, and a huge boost to local manufacturing and supply chain - a true legacy to be created for Queensland.

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Quality Manager to join our team. Initially based in Milton but transferring to Torbanlea. You will provide significant contribution to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of operations at Downer Rail facilities in Queensland. This will be achieved through increasing a compliance culture at sites by facilitating, consulting, mentoring and directing relevant department heads and personnel as to the requirements of the Downer Rail business management system and its link to the customer requirements.

A key element of this role will be the management and delivery of the QTMP Rollingstock Works, businesses Audit plans and supporting the business in reactive finding close outs as well as proactive initiatives to drive compliance or improve process and plans.

**What you will bring to the team**:

- Degree qualified in Engineering or Engineering Trade Certificate with 5+ years of relevant experience
- Qualified to conduct quality and safety assurance audits
- Demonstrated experience in delivery of rollingstock manufacturing projects
- Detailed knowledge of rollingstock design
- Detailed knowledge of quality standards and processes as they relate to the rail industry
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience in implementing standards and risk management principles
- Thorough knowledge of Quality Management and ISO9001 and proven ability to manage a quality system in an operational or production environment
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety and Environment legislations including Rail Safety Act
- Extensive knowledge of Quality and Business Management Systems
- High level of business process improvement and program management skills.
- High level conceptual and analytical skills, and the capacity to develop solutions in a complex environment
- Demonstrated ability to interpret data, prepare reports, develop strategic initiatives.
- Highly developed stakeholder management skills and experience working with senior management, general management, technical experts and industry professionals.
