Position Summary

The Quality Manager is a key leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving quality assurance systems and processes across the firm. This role is designed to support the firm's strategic objectives by building a robust quality framework that ensures compliance, promotes best practice, and supports a culture of continuous improvement across all service lines.

Acting as a central point for quality and risk matters, the Quality Manager drives the quality agenda by designing fit-for-purpose quality management systems, managing internal audit programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory and professional standards (including ISO9001 and ASQM1), and partnering with business leaders to embed quality into everyday operations.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Framework Development

  • Lead the design, implementation, and enhancement of the firm's quality assurance systems and internal controls.
  • Develop quality policies, procedures, and protocols tailored to the needs of the Brisbane office and aligned with national and global standards.
  • Champion a quality-first mindset across the business by ensuring all teams are equipped with the tools and guidance needed to uphold high standards.

Strategic Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, internal standards, and ISO frameworks (e.g. ISO9001, ASQM1).
  • Oversee and maintain the Brisbane Office operational risk register.
  • Coordinate quality assurance planning with other functional teams to ensure alignment across risk, compliance, and business operations.

Audit & Monitoring

  • Plan and manage the internal quality audit program, including scoping, scheduling, execution, and reporting.
  • Evaluate operational processes and documentation to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor quality metrics and indicators to assess performance and inform leadership of trends and risks.
  • Coordinate and report on annual controls testing, peer review programs, and self-assessment processes.

Quality Improvement & Business Support

  • Partner with teams across the business to identify inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and implement quality-enhancing initiatives.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning for identified issues or non-conformities.
  • Provide strategic input to senior leadership regarding quality priorities and areas of focus.

Training & Engagement

  • Design and deliver training programs to build internal capability in quality assurance and risk awareness.
  • Support cultural change by promoting quality values and behaviours across teams and service lines.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to staff on applying quality procedures in their day-to-day work.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as a quality liaison with the Risk Partner & Risk Committee.
  • Collaborate with HR, IT, Finance, and Marketing to ensure integrated delivery of quality practices.
  • Regularly engage with Partners and Senior Managers to ensure quality initiatives support client service excellence.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing quality management systems, preferably within a professional services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO9001, ASQM1 and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in leading internal audits and risk-based assessments.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies and tools (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma - desirable).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive decisions.
  • Relevant qualifications needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across all levels.
  • Strong report writing, documentation, and presentation capabilities.
  • A proactive and self-driven approach with the ability to lead initiatives independently.
  • High level of integrity and professional scepticism.
  • Familiarity with audit, tax, and assurance services is an advantage.
