**About - Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology**

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) has been the leading Australian provider of engineering and IT education and research for over 150 years. **About the Role**

You will lead day to day laboratory management including staff and student training, managing the budget including completing monthly reporting, purchasing and inventory/chemical management, ensuring EHS compliance, waste management, and procurement and upkeep of laboratory equipment. You will drive engagement with other laboratories across the university, nationally and internationally.

Responsibilities include:

- Maintain the operational performance and equipment of the CNG laboratory, ensuring a safe and clean environment that is compliant with legislation and UOM policies.
- Maintain a PC2 area within CNG, ensuring regulation of the local area meeting Office of the Gene Technology Regulator’s (OGTR) PC2 Guidelines for Laboratories and any relevant AS/NZS standards and that staff, students and visitors comply with the OGTR’s PC2 behavioural requirements.
- Independently plan and carry out research and contribute to research projects including developing timelines, writing technical reports, participating in the preparation of manuscripts and other administrative activities.

**About You**

You are an experienced Laboratory Manager with demonstrated ability to complete experiments and perform research, manage safety and hygiene standards, oversee procurement and budgeting and project manage activities within tight deadlines. Your excellent communication skills enable you to communicate technical concepts both verbally and in writing, for example in technical documents, to diverse audiences. You possess highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build and develop effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and work cohesively as part of a team.

You will also have:

- An Undergraduate Degree or PhD in Engineering, Science or a cognate discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Australian occupational health and safety legislation and laboratory regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Knowledge of Scheduled Drugs and Poison licence
- and AQIS Import/Export Permit requirements
- Experience in working with gases, chemicals and other dangerous goods
