**The opportunity**:
Join the cutting-edge team at VCGS (Victorian Clinical Genetics Services) as a Laboratory Technician in our DNA Extractions Unit. We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and collaborative technician to support our critical role in genomic diagnostics and research.
**About the Role**:
As part of our Laboratory Services department, you'll be a key contributor in:
Performing high-quality DNA extractions from a variety of specimen types.
Accurately recording results using Labware, our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Managing the referral of specimens to external and MCRI research laboratories.
Participating in all activities of the Sendaways area as directed.
Supporting general lab operations as needed.
This position involves rotating shifts between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm and may include Saturday mornings (7:00 am-1:00 pm) on a rostered basis.

Proven laboratory experience, ideally in DNA extraction or molecular biology
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a high-throughput environment
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to accuracy and compliance
Flexibility to work across a 12-hour roster as business needs demand
