An exciting opportunity for an Environmental Officer to join a Government department south of Perth CBD

**Your new company**
A leading Government department based South of Perth CBD, is seeking an experienced and capable Environmental Officer to provide specialist advice and support across the department around conservation values. This role is being offered on a full-time basis, initially engaged on a temporary basis with view of extension. This department has available parking on site for all employees.

**Your new role**
As an Environmental Officer you will be responsible for:

- Investigating and evaluating potential impacts of development proposals on significant conservation
- Participate in discussions and negotiations with departments across the industry, in respect to assessment and management of developmental impacts on conservation
- Review environmental management plans and provide advice where relevant to the implementation and clearance of conditions
- Prepare briefing papers and other correspondences for the department, on issues relating to the environmental assessment and management of development proposals
- Assist the wider team with smooth work flow, offering support, training and mentoring services for other staff across the branch and wider department

**What you'll need to succeed**
In order to be considered for this role you will display:

- A Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification
- Previous responsibility in identifying, evaluating and managing conservation issues associated with developments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders of all levels
- The ability to work autonomously and also operate well within a team
- Strong IT skills with experience using Microsoft Officer Suites
- Previous experience working within a Government department would be beneficial

**What you'll get in return**
You will be engaged on an initial temporary basis, working full-time hours with flexible arrangements on offer. You will be based in a location south of Perth CBD, with parking available on site.
