**Position Overview**:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced **Payroll Officer** with either SAP or PayGlobal experience to join the People and Culture team at Fire Rescue Victoria. The Payroll Officer will be responsible for managing and processing the payroll for FRV employees in an accurate and timely manner. This position involves ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, award agreements, and internal policies, while maintaining confidentiality and providing excellent customer service to staff regarding payroll-related matters.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Payroll Processing**:
- Process the end-to-end payroll for all FRV employees, including permanent, temporary, and casual staff.
- Ensure accurate calculation and processing of wages, superannuation, deductions, leave entitlements, and other payroll-related transactions.
- Administer adjustments, terminations, and new employee setup within the payroll system.
- **Award and Compliance Management**:
- Stay up-to-date with changes to taxation laws, superannuation rates, and other payroll-related regulations.
- **Data Management & Reporting**:
- Maintain accurate payroll records and data in accordance with FRV policies and legal requirements.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns, including PAYG, superannuation, and other government remittances.
- Generate and maintain payroll-related reports, such as headcount reports, leave balances, and any other ad-hoc reports required.
- **Customer Service**:
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, providing assistance with pay queries, leave balances, and other payroll-related issues.
- Liaise with other departments (e.g., HR, Finance) to ensure smooth and efficient payroll processing.
- **System Administration & Improvement**:
- Maintain and update payroll records within the payroll software/system, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- **General Administration**:
- Assist with audits and internal controls related to payroll processing.
- Ensure compliance with FRV's policies and procedures, as well as relevant external regulatory requirements.

**Key Skills and Attributes**:

- Strong knowledge and experience in payroll administration, including relevant awards, employment agreements, and legislation (e.g., Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards).
- High attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality.
- Proficient in payroll software and systems (e.g., Chris21, SAP, or similar payroll systems).
- Strong numeracy skills and a solid understanding of taxation, superannuation, and other payroll-related calculations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously and within a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle high-volume work in a timely manner.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- **Essential**:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of payroll experience in a similar role.
- Sound understanding of payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in using payroll and HR software.
- **Must have SAP or PayGlobal experience**

This pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading
