**About the centre**

Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre is an important community facility and is just one of the leisure and aquatic facilities that make up the Boroondara Leisure and Aquatic Facilities (BLAF). These facilities are managed by YMCA Victoria in partnership with the City of Boroondara.

The Boroondara Leisure and Aquatic Facilities provide the unique opportunity for staff to be exposed to a variety of facilities, programs and services within a vibrant workplace.

We offer a great community feel in our Centres and combine this with offering great service and many community based programs. This also includes the more traditional Health Club Services, Personal Training, swim lessons and multiple group exercise class options for all age groups.

**About the role**

The YMCA Health & Fitness Instructor must possess a genuine desire to encourage and support members to achieve their health and fitness goals. The Instructor is relied upon to motivate, educate and enhance each member’s experience. Through developing a rapport with members, the Health & Fitness Instructor fosters a commitment to their improved health and wellbeing.

The role will see you:

- Work as a team member to provide the very best health and fitness advice, including through consultation, by creating a friendly environment
- Conduct Health Consultations, Program Starts, Follow-Ups and Re-assessments
- Undertake supervision of the gym, giving technical advice, support and encouragement to clients and patrons
- Ensuring all equipment and the facility itself is kept to agreed standards of quality, safety maintenance and presentation
- Support membership retention and marketing strategies
- Ensuring customers conform with gym etiquette guidelines
- Provide a welcoming environment for all visitors to the centre with a smile and greeting

This is a Permanent Part-Time position and the hourly rate is $25.41 + super.

**About You**

As a Fitness Instructor, you’ll be a strong communicator and dynamic leader, motivating and educating our diverse clientele to build healthy, active behaviours. You will be passionate about member growth and customer service with the need to work across the gym floor and customer service with a mindset to engage in the community.
- You will possess experience in a range of courses relative to a diverse range of groups (such as pregnancy, older adults)
- You will have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to deal with a diverse range of customers in age, culture, fitness histories and other backgrounds
- Specialist injury management knowledge (e.g. medical conditions, disabilities) will be highly regarded

**Essential Qualifications**
- Certificate III in Fitness or approved equivalent
- Certificate IV in Fitness or approved equivalent (completed or working towards completion)
- Current Fitness Australia Registration, or approved equivalent
- CPR certificate
- First Aid certificate
- 20 Continuing Education Credits (CECs) every two years, in order to maintain your accredited Fitness Industry registration.
