Public hospital (specialising in early parenting)
- Part Time - 4 days per week (0.8FTE)
- Noble Park location
Formed in 1917, the Queen Elizabeth Centre (QEC) is Victoria’s largest provider of residential and community parenting programs in Victoria. QEC’s vision is for children to get the best start in life. Our work recognises the important role parents/carers play in nurturing, protecting and enhancing the health, development and growth of their children to enable this best start in life. Our team work in partnership with parents/carers to achieve this through support, education, mentoring and coaching.
The Residential Parenting Assessment and Skills Development Service (PASDS) is an intensive development and parenting assessment program for families referred by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) Child Protection. PASDS is delivered by the QEC as a 10 day Residential program at Noble Park and also has a home based 12 week program through the Southern, Northern, Gippsland and Hume Regions.
The program is delivered through evidence based guidelines that provide a framework for assessment of parenting capacity and planned interventions to develop parenting skills. The target group for PASDS is vulnerable infants and young children from birth to two years of age and their families.
As the Case Coordinator you will be responsible for overseeing the families attending the PASDS program, as well as undertaking assessments of parenting capacity using evidence-based frameworks. You will ensure referrals are appropriate, attend intake and discharge meetings and monitor the progress of our families throughout the 10 day program. You will liaise with DFFH on a regular basis and produce reports to the department highlighting any risk and making appropriate recommendations.
As part of the leadership team, you will support our Early Parenting Practitioners to ensure that all observations are tracked and recorded accurately and objectively. You will participate in various quality improvement initiatives and ensure that the PASDS program continuously aligns with State Government guidelines and service agreements, legislative requirements and QEC practice guidelines, policies and procedures.
**Essential knowledge and skills for this role include**:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Nursing, Psychology or equivalent.
- Up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge of family and child health and development trauma and neglect.
- Experience working with families with high needs including those whose children are at “high risk” of abuse or neglect and cumulative harm.
- Ability to undertake comprehensive, specialist assessment of the infant’s development and parent’s capacity to provide safe and direct care, and respond to any immediate needs and risks.
- Experience providing targeted early intervention responses for vulnerable and at-risk children and families.
This is a unique and rewarding role that would suit an experienced practitioner with a passion and interest in the field of early parenting. You will enjoy a professional and supportive team environment and access to training and development opportunities. An attractive salary is on offer along with salary packaging and QEC's wellbeing program.
**To apply**:
For further information, please contact People & Culture on 9549 2777.
QEC employees are required to comply with the Victorian Public Sector Code of Conduct and the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
QEC promotes diversity and equal opportunity in employment and is committed to a more diverse workforce.
