**About the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations**

**The Role**
TThe Workforce Australia for Business Division operates national and local workforce programs and provides strategic policy advice to address workforce challenges. This ranges from the energy transition and net zero to regional and place-based initiatives such as the Local Jobs Program, Employment Facilitators, Harvest Trail Services and Workforce Specialists.
We want people who are keen to understand changing economic conditions and contribute to positive workplace change that will help prepare the Australian workforce for the future.
As part of the division’s leadership group you will manage a team of professionals responsible for identifying policy solutions, running large programs, facilitating positive workforce and industry connections and/or undertaking research, analysis, and modelling. You will be required to build lasting collaborative networks and deliver outcomes in a supportive high paced environment. You will have a strong interest in economic and public policy, data analytics and/or research.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of EL1 officers may include:
- Manage policy or program work to meet the government’s workforce and labour market objectives and build team capability.
- Lead work to identify emerging policy or program issues and engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders to understand challenges and propose appropriate resolution to reach agreement on key issues.
- Provide input and advice in relation to policy and program parameters, including but not limited to drafting policy proposals, budget documents and communication materials, interpreting legal advice, preparing implementation and action plans.
- Prepare briefing material for Executive and Ministers on program and policy issues, risks and sensitivities.
- Manage ongoing program implementation to identify implementation tasks and assist in policy refinement.
- Manage staff and resources to connect information, analyse the workplace landscape and develop collaborative policy solutions.
- Lead the co-design of projects with external stakeholders who may include employment service providers, employers, unions and training organisations.
- Manage a range of program aspects from procurement through to implementation, monitoring, analysis, reporting and evaluation of performance.
