**The Roles**
In the International Division, we operate as policy advisors, representatives, analysts, administrators, and diplomats. We work across the Australian Government, state and territory governments, and education providers to protect and support the sustainable growth of our international education sector and ensure Australia is recognised as a world leader in education and training. With staff based in 10 countries, we also work closely with foreign partner governments to advance Australia’s economic growth, public diplomacy, and national security. We engage closely with priority countries in Latin America, North Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia, as well as multilateral organisations, to promote Australian education and research globally.
We also work to enhance the onshore and offshore student experience, and we provide policy and regulatory support to ensure quality underpins international education and national security. We deliver a suite of qualifications recognition products and services, alongside programs that provide students from Australia and overseas with the opportunity to undertake high quality education, training and research in regional areas. **Duties and Responsibilities**
There are a range of roles available that are responsible for providing strategic policy advice, including on national security issues facing the broader education sector, and/or managing and delivering projects and programs. The roles support Australia’s engagement in international education to create market opportunities, foster deeper connections on policy and systems alignment, ensure quality, and promote the exchange of knowledge and best practice.

Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director may (depending on the role) be responsible for:

- Providing complex strategic policy advice for presentation to the Minister or Executive that is based on research and analysis.
- Preparing and reviewing briefing documentation and correspondence, which may include engaging in Cabinet processes.
- Managing internal and external stakeholder relationships to promote the department’s objectives, including with overseas governments and the sector.
- Leading a small team and providing guidance and mentorship to support staff development.
- Recommending strategic direction for the work area, making decisions based on professional judgment, and being responsible for delivering quality outcomes.
- Managing and delivering projects and programs to encourage international education cooperation.
