We have several APS5 positions available across the Engagement, Monitoring and Southern Basin Branch that we are seeking to fill from this recruitment process. The successful applicants will undertake work that contributes to working in diverse teams engaging with stakeholders within and outside the Department to manage and coordinate projects/programs as part of the CEWH’s Science Program or develop and implement communication activities.

**Who we are**
The Environmental Water and Aquatic Ecosystems Division includes the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder (CEWH), who is responsible for managing Commonwealth environmental water to protect and restore the health of rivers, floodplains and wetlands within the Murray-Darling Basin. We work to achieve environmental outcomes under the Water Act 2007 and the Basin Plan 2012, working closely with other government agencies, First Nations peoples, community, non-government organisations, and industry groups, local landholders and scientists. We undertake a range of roles ranging from water planning, water accounting, financial management, science, policy development, reporting and communications. In addition to supporting the CEWH, the Division also includes the Office of Water Science and supports the Australian Government in its international engagement and national leadership on the Convention of Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention).

**The Job**
- Manage a program budget utilising Departmental financial systems, supporting core administration functions such as budgeting and invoicing.
- Coordinate activities to deliver the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder’s (CEWH) Science Program.
- Liaise with colleagues and external science providers on the delivery of monitoring and research activities.
- Undertake small procurements, including managing contracts and deliverables.
- Contribute to a range of activities such as secretariat duties, coordination requests and briefings.

There will be opportunities for travel to engage with communities across the Murray-Darling Basin and see first-hand how the work of the CEWH is making a tangible difference to the health of rivers and wetlands.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
- Project Management - has demonstrated experience managing program budgets and contracts, working with suppliers to ensure delivery of program milestones.
- Collaboration - has experience in maintaining positive relationships, is collaborative and flexible in their approach.
- Initiative - good judgement and takes initiative to progress tasks under limited supervision and follow up as necessary.
- Experience in project/program management, including managing budgets OR experience in communication and media.
- An awareness of issues affecting Indigenous Communities as well as developing and supporting relationships based on mutual trust, respect and consideration of values and culture.

**Skills and capabilities**
- Communication - has effective communication skills both written and verbal.
- Initiative - good judgement and takes initiative to progress tasks under limited supervision and follow up as necessary.

**Desirable qualifications**
- Qualifications and/or experience in project management would be an advantage.

**Citizenship** - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.

**Security Clearance** - This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
