**Your new role**
The position sits in the ICT and Business Solutions team, whose focus is to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information, assets, and systems. Other team objectives include providing systems and processes which support client’s capacity to identify, detect, and effectively respond to cyber security threats.

The ICT Manager will report directly to CIO and will manage the operations of client’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT.

Role and responsibilities:

- Managing, administering, and maintaining IT Infrastructure (including networking, security, servers, backups, and end user computing) and Cloud Solutions (including Microsoft Azure).
- Leading a specialised team to deliver high-quality IT services, providing specialist advice, and encouraging critical thinking, and driving a positive team culture committed to continuous improvement.
- Building team capabilities by providing leadership to team members, including setting the strategic direction of work priorities, monitoring workflows and resources, developing, coaching, mentoring staff, resolving conflict, and managing performance.
- Overseeing the design and the implementation of IT solutions and supporting initiatives by other business areas to deliver required changes to IT services and systems.
- Engaging and working with suppliers, services providers, other government agencies and vendors alike to build and deliver products and services with acceptable service levels.
- Directing technology upgrades, ensuring proper risk analysis and go/no-go assessment.
- Managing ICT changes, ensuring all infrastructure patches and updates are performed in a timely manner.
- Proactively engage with all project stakeholders, internal and external, to ensure parties are well serviced, supported and are engaged, consulted, and briefed at the appropriate times and the work is delivered to a required standard and timeframes.
- Translate technical requirements in plain English and communicate these to internal and external audiences in layman terms so they are well understood by all stakeholders.
- Provide timely, accurate and professional regular reporting, data, written and verbal updates to the CIO, senior executive and business owners as required.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Be experienced in providing strategic direction and managing IT operational functions in the context of a small agency.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set and meet performance targets, manage performance, and deliver quality and timely outcomes.
- Have demonstrated experience in problem solving, technical project management, resolving production outages/impacts, and implementing permanent solutions for issues.
- Have proven experience managing collaborative relationships with other government agencies (Memorandum of Understanding) and external IT vendors and services providers.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of and experience across Azure Cloud Services, Office 365 products, VMWare, Microsoft (AD, Exchange, SQL etc), Network (WAN/LAN/Routers/Switches/ Firewalls), Cloud Solutions and Storage technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and to work autonomously.
- Strong leadership capability, ability to lead a small team to deliver outcomes. Manages staff performance competently and engages with staff with confidence and compassion.
