**What you'll do**

The role focusses on all commercial aspects of the Australian Government business. You will be responsible for ensuring that all non-standard deals, business cases, commercial projects and Capture plans within your remit are appropriately constructed with an optimal balance of risk and return. Working within the Viasat International Government team and across the wider organisation you will build consensus and support for non-standard deals, Capture plans and commercial projects and ensure each one has conformed to the appropriate levels of commercial governance.

**The day-to-day**
- Lead all Commercial Management activities related to the assigned area(s) including non-standard deals, capture planning and commercial-related projects and governance
- Lead the development of high-quality proposals and offers ensuring that they are commercially valid, deliverable and include appropriate and relevant terms and conditions
- Contribute to activities and initiatives that enable Sales to perform their role with independence
- Conduct gate reviews for deals, bids, capture plans and commercial projects to secure support from other functions, senior sponsorship, investments relating to resourcing or capability gaps and authorisation to proceed.
- Contribute to the development of business cases for new products and services.
- Support, and where appropriate, lead contractual negotiations
- Ensure that all deals and business cases have a robust and thorough financial analysis.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities to accelerate the team’s ability to perform the role at increasing scale
- Other tasks and responsibilities as may be reasonably required

**What you'll need**
- Experience developing customer offers within a commercial environment.
- Experience managing/developing contractual frameworks, preferably in the Government market.
- Knowledge of financial analysis techniques including DCF, ROI and revenue/margin modelling.
- Excellent writing skills combined with high level of skill in using Microsoft Office products.
- Strong interpersonal skills in collaborating with others.
- An enquiring mind to test that we have captured all that is required to capture an order
- Strong negotiation skills that ensure optimal outcomes from any contract negotiation.

**What will help you on the job**
- Degree Qualified in finance, legal or commerce
- Experience in Capture and Bid methodologies, such as Shipley
- Experience in a Defence, Telecommunications or Satellite Communications environment
- An understanding of contract law
