
Procurement Category Specialist

Are you a strategic procurement expert with a passion for delivering value and driving sustainable change? We are seeking an experienced **Procurement Category Specialist** to provide expert technical advice, manage key categories and vendors, whilst assisting in the development of robust procurement processes and policies. In this role, reporting to our General Counsel & Company Secretary you will be pivotal in building procurement capability, partnering with stakeholders, whilst ensuring our sourcing efforts deliver cost efficiencies.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide expert procurement advice on planning, sourcing, policy development, systems, and supplier development to meet business needs.
- Lead the management of key procurement categories and vendors to ensure value for money and mitigate risk.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline procurement processes and enhance transparency.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to develop innovative sourcing strategies that challenge suppliers and drive competitive outcomes.
- Design and implement procurement strategies and performance metrics.
- Produce regular procurement reports and maintain transparent procurement resources for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure procurement activities align with Michael Hill’s sustainability objectives across People, Product, and Planet.
- Champion a continuous improvement culture to enhance procurement value and efficiency.
**More about you**:
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing and strong commercial acumen.
- Advanced data analysis and reporting skills to support decision-making.
- Category planning with a focus on aligning to strategic objectives and KPIs.
- Development and delivery of category reporting and procurement insights.
- Experience managing end-to-end tender processes.
- Ability to work with legal teams to develop and negotiate contracts and governance documentation.
- Oversight of supplier governance and contract performance.
- Ability to challenge the status quo and implement meaningful change and improvements.
**Required Experience**:
- Strong procurement knowledge, including procurement practices, frameworks, and governance.
- High proficiency in systems and data analytics tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple objectives and engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Bachelors Degree in Business/ Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, Law or similar field desired but not essential.
