**The Role**

Defence Force Recruiting has an APS6 Governance Officer position available.

The Governance Officer is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve ministerial work within an integrated workforce. In this role you will manage and coordinate the daily handling of workflow and correspondence, adjusting activities and processes to ensure that work is performed in compliance with legislative, regulatory, policy and governance frameworks.

The role requires a strategic understanding of the impact and implications of ministerial business to the work area, to Defence and whole-of-government. Strong organisational skills are required to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines along with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with strong problem-solving skills are essential. You have the ability to tailor your style and language to the audience’s knowledge, skills and experience.

**About our Team**
Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) provide recruiting services to the Australian Defence Force in accordance with standards and policies set by the Navy, Army and Air Force.

Recruiting services are delivered using matrixed teams operating in a high energy, environment responsible for directly delivering capability to the Australian Defence Force.

The Executive Management team are the primary entry point into DFR for correspondence to the Director General, requests for input to Defence strategic reports and requests for information. The team predominantly prepare responses for all forms of Departmental Correspondence, Freedom of Information requests, complaints from the Defence Ombudsman and Australian Human Rights Commission, subpoenas and other documents related to complaints and enquiries about ADF recruitment. The team coordinate the drafting and submission of parliamentary briefs, input to committee papers, reports and other ad hoc requests.

You will bring your professional knowledge and exceptional problem-solving and organisational skills to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines in order to contribute to the business of Defence Force Recruiting.

Your excellent communication skills, will include written and interpersonal skills, your attention to detail together with your ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be exemplary.
