Support Worker

You Connect (YC), formally known as youth connections, is a not-for-profit organisation that supports people living with a disability, have complex behaviours and/or have mental health diagnosis that impact their day-to-day functioning.
We support people aged 6-40 by providing a range of services in capacity-building supports, community participation, employment readiness, and housing.

We are seeking dedicated Support Workers to join our growing team and assist with providing support for our participants in our various sites located across the Central Coast.
- Female Mental Health Support Worker
- 21 hours per week across Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.
- Male/female to work within our SIL home within Narara.

**Your Duties may Include (but not limited to)**
- Personal care (basic)

**How You Will Make a Difference**
- Assist clients in meeting their independent living skills and enabling them to undertake all aspects of daily living.
- Lead by example, provide guidance and assistance in domestic duties including meal preparation and light household cleaning (SIL)
- Record participants achievements, requirements and reinforce positive behaviours.
- Supporting clients with developing their communication and social skills.
- Understanding trauma informed practices and implementing Behaviour Support Plans.
- Actively participate in staff meetings and training.

**About You**:

- We require all our support workers to be reliable, committed, and empathetic individuals to provide quality care
- Relevant industry experience and knowledge
- a comprehensive understanding of mental health and how it affects each individual.
- Experience working with young people with physical, trauma and mental health
- Self-harm Experience
- required for Female 1-1 supports.
- Ability to work with and mentor clients.
- Ability to follow direction and work autonomously, both independently and as a team.
- Be strategic in your thinking about how to improve your service and contribute to changes that positively affect the client you’re supporting.
- Certificate III in Disability and related training and/or qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Interest and/or skills in one or more of the following; Art, Music, Dance, Gym/Sport, Building, Cooking, Media/Photography /IT, Gaming is highly desired.
