We are hiring an experienced **mental health support worker **for an **immediate start** to work on the **Central Coast NSW.**

**Role Description**

As a Support Worker with My Coast Support, you will be primarily employed to help people live their lives as independently as possible. Your position gives you the opportunity to enable others to reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support.
- It is an incredibly diverse and rewarding role as you will be helping vulnerable people to improve their quality of life, achieve their goals and make a very real and positive difference in their lives.
- Your role will vary depending on the person you are supporting. You will be supporting vulnerable people with many aspects of their day-to-day living, helping them to take care of themselves and live a rewarding life. Different people will need support for different reasons. For example, they may have mental health needs, learning disabilities, medical conditions or physical disabilities.
- As a support worker, you could be working in people’s homes, in the community or within our centre. Supports span across days, nights and weekends and it is preference that support workers have a high level of availability through out each week.
- You are building lifetime experiences and memories with the person and their families, as well as enabling them to overcome fears and challenges, and developing and building their confidence and self-esteem.

**Experienced in support work or similar role**
- Minimum 1 year experience in mental health. Good understanding of behavioural plans and familiar with psychosocial diagnoses
- Experienced and capable of working with people with challenging behaviours.
- Understanding of mental health (Certificate in Mental Health or similar desirable)
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Current Police Check
- Be able to work collaboratively within a team
- Passionate about helping people
- Reliable, trustworthy and punctual
- Great communication skills
- Any qualifications in disability, community services and/or aged care are desirable

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Flexible hours

**Experience**:

- Mental Health Support: 1 year (preferred)
- support worker: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Mental health certificate (preferred)
- National Police Certificate (preferred)
- Driver Licence (preferred)

Work Authorisation:

- Australia (preferred)
