As a Principal Equipment Specialist, you will be responsible for delivery of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Flight Simulator asset capability requirements across all Qantas Group business units. This position translates the operational needs of Group business units into designs and specifications for asset solutions that optimises the existing asset base, this includes implementing capital investments and commercial arrangements required for new operational capabilities and to sustain the capability delivered by ~7,500 assets worth ~$630M in replacement capital across 54 locations nationally and internationally.
You will ensure all assets comply with the Federal (CASA and WHS), State (WHS, OHS, HSC) and local regulations and in the development of Group standards for continual improvement in safety and operational performance. This role will interface across every major business units across all Qantas Group airlines, including Airports, Engineering, Freight and Safety, ensuring a standardised national approach is achieved across customers and ports.
You will also lead multi-disciplinary project teams to understand, specify and implement asset solutions for major projects such as the introduction of new aircraft types (A220, A321XLR, A330F, A350) and the conversion to sustainably powered GSE using new technologies.
You’ll have
- Extensive experience with plant equipment or similar- An engineering background is desirable- Demonstrated understanding of WHSE regulations and asset management framework- Strong stakeholder management skills- The ability to assess and make balanced judgement decisions regarding continued operations of equipment whilst accounting for the safety of customers/employees.- Ability to think across multiple dimensions and link to financial outcome- Work under time pressure to deliver assets and modifications that comply to design and regulatory outcomes- Experience in driving sustainable change through an organisation- An analytical approach and able to put plans into action- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels- Experience and/or qualifications in project management and achievement of measurable results to targets.
