The Principal Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) Configuration Specialist will be responsible for the delivery of PLM solutions in support of the growth of the business, the need to increase operational efficiency and enabling novel ways for delivery execution while championing best practice in configuration management.

The Opportunity

Cochlear has an opportunity for a Principal PLM Configuration Specialist based in our Macquarie Park, Sydney office. The purpose of the Principal PLM Configuration Specialist is to support the business by delivering configuration management solutions to internal customers to increase operational efficiency and enable delivery execution while championing best practice in configuration management. The role provides leadership in identifying improvement opportunities, conducting process analysis with stakeholders to arrive at novel solutions to support the growth of the business and realisation of efficiency benefits and improvements. The role applies expert knowledge in configuration management to set new standards to allow the business to meet its plans efficiently while maintaining compliance to processes and standards.

Responsibilities include:

- By engaging with internal customers, identify key Configuration Management issues requiring solutions and propose prioritisation plans considering the benefits to the business.
- Conduct root cause and impact analysis to assess and prioritise the issues identified.
- Document and Implement process changes as required to support the solutions designed and deployed.
- Champion Configuration Management principles and practice which include but are not limited to: Windchill objects and attributes, Bill of Material (BOM) structures, numbering schema, part criticality definition, lifecycle state definition, part, and document versioning, build standards, document types.
- Conduct information sessions and presentation to communicate improvements and activities of the team with key stakeholders and the customer base for buy-in
- Analyse the training needs of the organisation and include those needs to transform training to be contextual so that users can easily learn the specific functionality they need to know to do their work.
- Design training approaches that take into consideration content, method and context of the information required for customers to conduct their activities effectively in Windchill by enabling them to easily learn what they need to do without being experts in the product themselves.
- Be the voice to sell the benefits and value Configuration Management brings to our customers to allow them to do their work more easily and efficiently.

Essential

**Required Skills**:

- 5 years or more PLM Configuration Management related experience
- Formal qualifications in Configuration Management
- Advanced analytical, problem solving and research skills.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills
- Experience working in global organisations.

Desired Skills
- Knowledge of the medical device product development.
- Proven experience with Windchill.
- Experience as a provider of training solutions.
- Configuration Management experience from other industries.
- Product design and development experience

Certifications
- Configuration Management certification

Education
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering

Languages
- Fluent in English
