Conservation & Ecosystem Management Traineeship

We are on the look out for an individual who will undertake conservation practices associated with the design and maintenance of Maranoa Botanic Gardens, Beckett Park. The trainee will also be required to to work across all locations as required as part of this role. The successful trainee will have the opportunity to learn how native, remnant and indigenous vegetation works and take a keen interest in providing resource management as well.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Contribute to the curation of living plant collections including plant selection. plant maintenance and label and inventory management.
- Required to maintain the collection of data and work records.
- Ability to identify and proactively resolve maintenance requirements.
- Implement a range of horticultural maintenance and develop operations to a high level of skill and judgement.
- Assist with horticultural renovation, redevelopment and construction work.
- maintain and safely operate a range of minor plant and equipment.
- Drivers licence (preferred)
- Willing to undertake police check
- Willing to obtain Working with Children Check
- Must be Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Certain eligibility criteria applies in relation to prior qualifications
- Up to date with Covid vaccinations
- Genuine interest in land conservation
- Undertake a Hearing Test
- Willing to complete the traineeship within 24 Months
- Full time role
- Location based in Kew, with the expectation for the trainee to work across all locations as required.

**AGA Apprentice will**:

- Attend accredited RTO/TAFE training
- Receive ongoing mentoring & support
- Receive a weekly wage including entitlements
- Receive personal protective equipment
