We are on our path towards becoming the Commonwealths “Strategic Shipbuilder” in the West, aiming to be in contract for the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA). Join us for this exciting opportunity to be part of continuous naval shipbuilding, contributing and significant work for the Australian Defence Force.

The SSA will establish an overarching program which enables the design and build of vessels at the Henderson Shipyard. The objective of the SSA is to possess the capacity and capability to initially deliver Landing Craft Medium & Heavy for the Australian Army in supporting continuous naval shipbuilding in WA.

The SSA is about establishing the capability within the Henderson Precinct, and Western Australia, to continuously build vessels for the Commonwealth. It will be led by Austal, and will require the engagement of local industry, supply chain and workforce to be successful.

**About the Opportunity**
- The Lead Cost Controller is a key position within the Enterprise Project Management team, ‘delivering together’. You’ll be.
- Manage and review budgets.
- Cost Performance Monitoring
- Ensure future costs are accurately forecasted.
- Report on actual vs budget and forecast variances with the support from the Cost Controls team.
- Coordinate the set up and operationalisation of cost control processes, procedures, and practices as they relate to an effective Earned Value Management System.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Drive good practice in cost management across project/ program delivery leaders
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contract terms, and relevant financial regulations.
- Provides leadership across the SSA Program to drive excellence in cost management practices to ensure good governance and cost disciplines.
- Lead the cost control framework for the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement at a portfolio, program, and project level.
- Establish frameworks, processes, tools, and templates for effective standardise.

**Skills and Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, engineering, or related field
- 5-10 years’ experience in a similar role in a large, complex production or transformation program
- Strong understanding of cost management principles, budgeting, and forecasting
- Application of cost control processes and procedures in an EVMS environment
- Experience within ship building and embedding new processes in cost control (Desirable)
- Experience in a similar role in a Defence environment (Desirable)
- Competent using IFS financial management system and Power BI and other data visualisation tools (Desirable)

**Security Clearance roles only**:Due to the Security Clearance required for this position, applicants must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and uphold a Baseline Security Clearance through the Australian Department of Defence.
