**About the team**:
This small DBA team combines expertise in both traditional on-premises database management and cloud-based solutions like Azure, ensuring a holistic approach to database administration that meets the organisation's evolving needs.

Collaboration among team members and ongoing training to keep up with technological advancements are key factors for success.

The Department of Industry, Science and Resources is seeking the services of a suitably qualified and experienced SQL Database Administrator to assist with the development and maintenance of systems.

The SQL Database Administrator is a specialist role that will be responsible for a number of project and operational activities including creating, maintaining and managing databases with respect to security, backup/recovery and monitoring in on-premises and cloud environments.

**Experience**:

- Demonstrable experience of at least 3-5 years in supporting Microsoft SQL Server and SQL High Availability technologies.

To succeed in the role, you will have:

- Attention to detail and ability to follow set procedures.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desirable Skills:

- Experience with (Always-On) Availability Groups, SSIS, SSRS and SSAS
- Microsoft SQL Server administration expertise to include SQL clustering and replication.
- Well versed and experienced in monitoring, detection and isolation of SQL Server related performance issues whether hardware or software.
- Familiarity with cloud database environments; Azure is preferred.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and issue resolution, or demonstrated willingness to learn.
- Solid acquaintance with windows server, security delegation, SPNs, storage components (desired).
- Systems administration supporting a Windows based environment of at least 50 servers.
- Industry certifications relevant to the role (MCSE Data Platform or similar).

**What you will do**:
In this role you will:

- Develop and configure tools to enable automation of database administration tasks.
- Monitor performance statistics and create reports.
- Identify and investigate complex problems and issues, recommending corrective actions.
- Perform routine configuration, installation, and reconfiguration of database and related products.
- Identify, evaluate and manage the adoption of database administration tools and processes, including automation.
- Develop and maintain procedures and documentation for databases. Contribute to the setting of standards for definition, security and integrity of database objects and ensure conformance to these standards.
- Manage database configuration including installing and upgrading software and maintaining relevant documentation.
- Monitor database activity and resource usage. Optimise database performance and forecast resource needs.
