- **Salary range ($45,959 to $49,926), Total Remuneration Package up to **$56,089**

Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land - the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.

The Gallery attracts around 1 million visitors annually and runs Australia’s largest education program with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.

With our expanded campus recent opening the Gallery has a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences.

**About the Role**

Deliver public talks including the Daily Tours of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and assist with the production of engaging projects, programs (including our regional creative Learning programs) and interpretive content to grow the appreciation, enjoyment and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art for diverse audiences.

**Essential requirements**

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and accepted in the community as such. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-discrimination Act 1997.

**What technical / soft skills you require**

1. Confirmation of Aboriginality, plus a knowledge of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and culture.

2. Demonstrated experience in coordinating programs or similar, working within a budget to meet time deadlines, contributing ideas and helping others to solve problems.

3. Good administrative and organisational skills, including the ability to establish priorities, achieve goals, and effectively work both independently and collaboratively.

4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal courteously with visitors.

5. An in-depth knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art

6. Working with Children Check.

**Targeted questions**
- The purpose of the role is to engage a range of audiences with art and ideas through creative and effective program experiences. Provide an example of when you engaged a particular audience group with art (and artists) in a creative way, explaining your process and outcome. (maximum of 300 words)
- This position maintains diverse administrative program responsibilities and can be faced with challenging time constraints. Please provide an example of a situation where you were required to prioritise conflicting tasks involving management and/or stakeholder requests within a gallery/museum environment. (300 word limit)
