**The Opportunity**
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Battery Specialist in our**Coke & Iron **t**eam based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers. The coke making process is an integral part of the manufacturing of steel. Operating the coke plant relies on a skilled, specialised and motivated workforce that has a strong focus on safety and the environment.
In this crucial role, you will be responsible for maintaining equipment associated with the coke oven batteries, which are essential for producing metallurgical coke from coal—a key step in the steelmaking process. Working closely with both maintenance and operations teams, you will conduct routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, carry out maintenance activities and major repairs. Drawing on your industrial experience, you will ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations, while also contributing to plant efficiency and reliability.
This is a Monday-to-Friday day shift position (8-hour working day excluding lunch break, with a start time window between 6:20 am and 7:00 am). You’ll also benefit from a monthly rostered day off (RDO).
**What Will You Do?**

- monitor and report asset conditions, and carry out equipment inspections, including battery door servicing, overhauls, and frame changes
- effectively use our Maintenance Management System to plan, schedule, and resource maintenance activities
- participate in continuous improvement initiatives using formal methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Kepner-Tregoe, and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)
- adhere to and promote departmental and company safety standards
- support the Team Leader in daily operations and contribute to budget management and delivery
