**About the Business Unit**:
Victim Services, Support and Reform (VSSR) is part of the Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). VSSR is responsible for the delivery and reform of services to victims of crime, placing victims at the centre of our justice system, as well as direct service provision through a range of programs including the Victims of Crime Helpline, Victims Register and the Victims Assistance Program.

The Policy and Strategy Unit in VSSR leads the development and implementation of victims policy within DJCS and across government, including Victoria's participation in the National Redress Scheme and implements major system reforms.

**About the Role**:
The Policy Officer will work cooperatively as a member of the policy team, and will contribute to the effective operation of the VSSR and wider victim support system.

Some of your duties will include:

- Analysing and proactively influencing policy development and legislation across government departments, agencies and entities to ensure victims' perspectives are effectively considered and reflected
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective outcomes for victims of crime
- Providing high quality advice to Ministers, DJCS senior management and key stakeholders on victims' issues.

**About You**:

- Knowledge of and experience in the development of policy and a sound understanding of government processes
- The ability to support a team in monitoring deliverables and milestones against a workplan
- Professional written communication skills in public policy, with an attention to detail
- An Understanding of victims' issues, in particular family violence, sexual assault, financial assistance for victims and indictable crime (desirable)
- Understanding of the criminal justice system (desirable)
- Qualifications/Requirements:_
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant area such as public policy, public administration, law, human or social sciences would be highly desirable.
