**Your new company**

This well-known Federal Government department is seeking an EL1 Policy Officer to join one of their Division’s and Branch’s responsible for delivering the Australian Government’s responsibilities under a National Strategy/Action Plan, grants programs, data and analytics, and engagement with a broad range of government and non-government stakeholders. This position has recently become available due to an increase in workflow.

**Your new role**

As a policy officer, you will be involved in:

- Developing and implementing polices and programs to support the National strategy/plan.
- Conduct research and analysis on road safety issues and trends.
- Preparing briefs, reports, submissions and correspondence.
- Liaising and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders including other Government agencies, State and Territory Governments, industry groups, research organisation and community groups.
- Representing the Branch in inter-departmental committees and intergovernmental forums

**What you'll need to succeed**

To be successful for this position you will have relevant experience in policy development or analysis, excellent communication skills both including the ability to write clearly, concisely, and persuasively for different audiences and purposes, strong analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to use data and evidence to inform decision making, sound judgement and initiative including the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
