Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Head Barista to lead our coffee operations and be at the forefront of developing our Brew Bar. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a deep understanding of coffee, and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service. The Head Barista will oversee daily barista operations, maintain coffee quality standards, train the team, and create a unique coffee experience for our customers through innovative brewing methods and specialty blends.

Key Responsibilities

Coffee Quality & Brew Bar Development

Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based and specialty coffee drinks following Genovese Coffee standards.

Lead the creation and implementation of our upcoming Brew Bar, introducing customers to different brewing methods such as pour-over, siphon, AeroPress, and cold brew.

Develop and refine specialty coffee offerings, including single-origin and blend selections.

Experiment with and introduce new coffee experiences, tastings, and flight options.

Educate both customers and staff about various brewing techniques, origins, and tasting notes.

Ensure consistency in extraction, milk texturing, and latte art.

Monitor and maintain coffee equipment, including grinders, espresso machines, and brewers, ensuring they are calibrated and in top condition.

Manage inventory and ordering of coffee beans, milk, and other barista-related supplies.

Team Leadership & Training

Lead and motivate the barista team to maintain high standards of service and coffee quality.

Train and mentor new and existing baristas, ensuring they adhere to proper techniques and service protocols.

Conduct regular training sessions on coffee knowledge, customer service, and workflow efficiency..

Customer Experience

Engage with customers, sharing knowledge about different coffee blends, brewing methods, and the Genovese Coffee story.

Provide an interactive and educational experience at the Brew Bar, guiding customers through different coffee flavours and preparation styles.

Maintain a warm and friendly atmosphere, ensuring every customer enjoys a memorable experience.

Handle customer feedback professionally and implement improvements where necessary.

Operations & Compliance

Ensure the coffee station and Brew Bar are clean, organised, and meet food safety and hygiene regulations.

Work closely with the management team to improve workflow and efficiency.

Maintain records of equipment maintenance and report any technical issues promptly.

**Requirements**:
Minimum 2+ years of experience as a senior barista or head barista in a high-volume specialty coffee environment.

Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, milk texturing, and latte art.

Experience with various manual brewing methods (pour-over, AeroPress, siphon, cold brew, etc.).

Leadership skills with experience in training and mentoring staff.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Passion for coffee and a drive to create an engaging Brew Bar experience.

Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and maintain efficiency during busy hours.

Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and early mornings.

Pay: $28.00 - $42.00 per hour

- 8 hour shift
