**What you’ll be doing**

The objective of the Operations Systems Specialist role is to be an expert in core Airline Operational systems, specifically for Guest Services (Airport) and Cabin Crew. You will have or will gain strong functional and technical knowledge about these systems, including skills that will allow you to configure and test solutions to meet business needs.

Ideally you will also have strong knowledge of the business processes for the Operations areas that you support to assist in identifying continuous improvement opportunities. Collaboration is a key component of this role, amongst your team and division, across the wider business and with system vendors. You will gather and translate business requirements into solutions, translate the technical to the end user and ensure our systems are set up to support Operations teams and enhance operational capability.

- Co-ordinate the successful implementation of new versions and releases of systems in your domain, including reviewing release notes and determining the impact of changes
- Ownership of small enhancement initiatives from understanding business need, engaging with other technology stakeholders to determine solution to co-ordinating delivery of solution through to completion
- Undertake system configuration
- Ensure any changes are effectively communicated to impacted areas
- Contribute to larger technology projects ensuring these projects deliver technology solutions that meet your business areas’ needs
- Develop test scripts, co-ordinate and undertake testing
- Resolve or assist support teams to resolve incidents and ensure root cause analysis is undertaken. With ongoing/recurring issues, drive problem management and process improvements with relevant support teams
- Support infrastructure upgrades
- Build strong relationships and meet regularly with your business areas’ stakeholders to understand their current and future business needs and help translate these into technology requirements and solutions
- Have a strong understanding of technology in your area and how your business areas use their technology to identify system and or process improvement opportunities, and work with stakeholders to advocate for and implement change
- Track release cycles for systems in your domain with relevant vendors
- Develop documentation for systems and solutions in your domain, anything that is not covered in vendor documentation or business area user guides. Examples might be VA-specific configuration, administrator processes, solutions developed internally and support documents

**You’ll be great in this role if you**
- Tertiary qualification in Information Management, Business Management, etc. or equivalent work experience
- 2-5 years'+ experience in a systems role, e.g. system analyst, business analyst, systems support
- Experience with systems used by Guest Services, AMCO and Cabin Managers in Virgin Australia is highly advantageous (e.g. Sabre Interact, Kiosk/ABD/BDM, VCabin, iFIDS, iGo, PTR, Pax-in)
- Experience in an Airport Operations role is advantageous
- Sabre interact experience is advantageous
- Significant system configuration, support and testing experience
- Experience in managing version upgrades and releases
- Demonstrated experience with gathering business requirements and translating them into solutions
- Project experience
- Experience in managing and delivering small enhancements
- Ability to co-ordinate version upgrades, maintenance releases and small enhancements
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative and flexible approach
