**About the Organisation**
The Australasian Sonographers Association (ASA) is the peak body for sonographers in Australasia. They work as a leading voice representing and advocating for the profession of sonography with a vision to see
- ‘that a Sonographer is known as the expert in ultrasound across the community.’_

**About the Role**
As the General Manager of Policy & Advocacy, you will offer extensive support and guidance to the CEO and board of ASA in their efforts to oversee the policy and advocacy initiatives of the organisation. You will actively interact with local, state, and national government representatives and stakeholders. By identifying favourable opportunities, you will play a crucial role in shaping policies that impact ASA members and the broader field of sonography.

**About the Person**

Previous experience or understanding within health, member associations, peak bodies, government departments or the NFP sector is preferable but not essential.

**Duties include but are not limited to**:

- Advise and provide support to the CEO and Board on Policy and Advocacy efforts.
- Build and manage effective working relationships with key stakeholders including government, non-government, and industry bodies
- Liaise with various stakeholders in coordinating lobbying efforts, and developing guidelines, standards, protocols, and position statements
- Provide guidance to the communication team on releasing policy and advocacy content
- Engage and consult with the Sonographer Policy and Advisory Committee (SPAC) and the New Zealand Sonographers Advisory Group (NZSAG)
- Plan, research, and develop strategic responses to industry issues in alignment with wider industry goals

**To be successful you will have**:

- Experience working in policy and advocacy
- Understanding of government structure and processes
- Strong project management skills and excellent attention to detail
- Proven ability to effectively liaise with key internal & external stakeholders & be able to advocate for the industry effectively & confidently
- Ability to drive an outcome and collaborate with a team
- Strong research and analytical skills
- High level of verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible and proactive approach, able to hit the ground running
- A keen interest or understanding of the Health or NFP sectors.
