We are a specialist medical College of over 130 employees driven by a strong purpose, positive environment, and a CEO and Executive Leadership team who are dedicated to upholding our commitment to supporting our membership base, staff and core values of Equity, Respect, Integrity, and Collaboration.The PositionWe have an exciting opportunity to take on the leadership of our Policy teamThe Manager, Policy leads the Policy Unit by building team capability, fostering professional development, and shaping a positive culture. The role also develops policy, oversees standards and guidelines, and engages with stakeholders to ensure the College's positions are evidence-based and influential.The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:• Management and leadership of the Policy Unit, including supporting and developing team members and conducting annual performance reviews.• Develop and implement policy and research projects and campaigns in support of ACEM's Advocacy Strategy. • Lead and participate in policy development, implementation and promotion on a range of issues related to the strategic interests of ACEM, providing timely expert policy and project advice to the ACEM Board, Council of Advocacy, Practice and Partnerships (CAPP) and their advisory committees, subcommittees and working groups. • Monitor policy development in the health portfolio within Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand to ensure the team can provide rapid responses to health issues as they arise.• Lead and participate in the preparation of submissions, reports, briefing notes, correspondence, presentations and other documents in response to government and other stakeholder consultations, inquiries and initiatives.• Lead and participate in the development and updating of ACEM's Standards (policies, guidelines, position statements).• Collaborate with staff across the Department and, where appropriate, the College to build policy and advocacy support to state and territory branches and the Aotearoa New Zealand National Branch of ACEM. • Where appropriate, represent ACEM and/or support ACEM members at internal and external forums, seminars, roundtables, working groups and engagement activity events to consider policy issues and build beneficial relationships.• Provide advice as required to the General Manager (Policy and Public Affairs), Executive Director (Policy Research and Partnerships), Senior Leadership Team and CEO on health policy and related issues.Skills and AttributesTo be successful in this role you will have:Essential• Proven experience managing and leading a small team.• Health policy expertise with relevant tertiary qualifications.• Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop policy papers, briefs, and statements based on research.• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.• Knowledge of Australian and/or Aotearoa New Zealand health systems.• Ability to prioritise, manage multiple deadlines, and work collaboratively in a small team environment.• High proficiency in Microsoft Office.• Commitment to equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusive workplace practices.Desirable• Qualifications in public policy or public health.• Skills in quantitative/qualitative analysis and peer-review standard writing.• Knowledge of health sector policy development, legislative and political processes.• Experience with membership or not-for-profit medical organisations.What's on OfferACEM offers excellent staff benefits including:Working for an organisation with a purposeFlexible work arrangements, within a hybrid work environmentAccess to Member Advantage, offering a range of discounts across travel, dining, shopping and health and wellbeingHealth and wellbeing initiativesOption to work 9 days in a fortnight but be paid for 10 daysActive corporate social responsibilityConvenient location to Flagstaff Gardens and Public TransportTo ApplyFor a full Position Description, please visit our website --> Work with us -- > Opportunities at ACEM.To be considered, you must have the right to work in Australia and your application should contain a cover letter and a resume.For further information or questions about the position please contact People, Culture and Experience via or on Application Disclaimer:Please note that we only advertise vacancies on the following platforms: , , Seek, EthicalJobs, and Do Good Jobs.
