What You Will Achieve
The Manager Policy & Public Affairs ANZ is responsible for shaping and monitoring the external environment to support the business goals and identify any risks/opportunities to mitigate/advocate for policy change to advance business priorities. The role will provide public affairs and policy support and guidance, promoting an environment that will enable the growth and vitality of Pfizer ANZ business and reputational interests in the country.
The role is responsible for setting objectives, mobilizing public affairs capabilities and executing strategies to shape external change for Australia, delivering structured advocacy with relevant government leaders and stakeholders, in collaboration with the PPA team. The Manager, Policy & Public Affairs will represent Pfizer in external forums.
How You Will Achieve It
Collaborating with Australian Corporate Affairs colleagues and the above market Corporate functions, the role sets the priorities for Pfizer’s activities to ensure alignment with business objectives, achieve focus and results, and builds Pfizer’s external footprint in Australia. The role develops and executes a public affairs strategy that will protect and advance Pfizer’s interests, reputation and commercial objectives to meet Pfizer’s business goals. The role represents and ensures that advocacy positions and activities are aligned with Pfizer positions and supports activities in trade associations in and above market.
In particular the role:
- Assesses the impact of the external policy environment on business strategy and provides counsel in business planning decisions (operating plan, business reviews, business development work, etc.)
- Ensures ANZ country leadership and Corporate Affairs leadership as well as other Regional and Global functions/colleagues have timely awareness of policy developments, related positions and activities
- Proposes and implements innovative Public Affairs/Policy strategic approaches to support Pfizer’s strategic business goals in Australia
- Leads and participates in relevant key trade and business associations in Australia
- Maintains strict compliance with all applicable policies and laws, especially those related to interactions with government official
**Qualifications**:
Must Have
- 5+ years experience with public policy, government relations, public/corporate affairs, with ideally 2+ years experience in health care
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field
- Strong understanding of the role of public affairs and policy in driving business goals, and the public policymaking process in Australia
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective and practical public affairs and policy solutions and comprehensive plans that deliver results
- Strong understanding of business strategy and key drivers of commercial success
- Able to anticipate, identify, and address emerging issues and related risks that could impact Pfizer's business in Australia
- Well organized, motivated and analytical problem solver
- High ethical standards of conduct and professional demeanor
- High diversity and cultural awareness
- Excellent professional reputation, both in substance and in style
