Commercial / Contract Manager (PMO)

**About the role**

Ventia’s Defence Base Services (DBS) contract are seeking a collaborative and engaging **Commercial / Contract Manager** to join the Project Management Office (PMO) team based in our Perth head office on Adelaide Terrace, Western Australia.

Working as an integral part of the Defence Base Services (DBS) contract, this position is primarily responsible for ensuring all projects within our PMO portfolio are compliant, high-quality, on-time and on-budget. In addition, you will ensure all compliance, commercial and legal aspects associated with the DBS Contract are preserved and/or improved focusing on conformance and performance, to deliver contractual obligations and objectives.

**Key duties but not limited to**:

- Expedite and support effective commercial and contract management of Ventia Defence Estate Works Project (EWP) programme across all regions to meet Directorate of Estate Works Program Office (DEWPO) and Ventia’s expectations and targets
- Provide support, and guidance to Regional Project Delivery Teams (in collaboration with Leadership)
- Develop and improve commercial and contract management procedures and processes for all Defence projects (EWP) & Alternate Proposals (AP)
- Oversee implementation of revised processes, systems, and training
- Assist with management and administration of the PMO budget
- Develop and promote sustainable commercial strategies and cost models for leveraged and new works opportunities
- Lead commercial negotiations regarding large variations, significant claims, as and when required
- Continuously improving all commercial and contract management aspects of project delivery within Ventia’s control; and
- Liaise with Defence and other external stakeholders, all pertinent PMO suppliers, service providers, and relevant internal stakeholders to contribute to an integrated approach to commercial aspects of project delivery and through-life asset management

**Skills and experience**:

- Tertiary qualification in Engineering and/or Construction or equivalent
- Significant experience in Project Management, Engineering or related streams
- Knowledge of Commercial/Contract requirements, principles and practices (incl. budgets)
- High level of computer skills and report writing (including MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint and other software programs)
- Significant experience in contract/commercial preparation and negotiation
- Demonstrated experience in collaborative and consultative processes at a professional level, engaging within contract and client groups
- Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent knowledge/interpretation of Laws; Contracts; Acts; Regulations and Standards

**Other special conditions**

The incumbent to this position must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance up to a level of baseline clearance. As a result of this requirement the incumbent must be an Australian Citizen.

This position also requires you to obtain a National Police Clearance check.
