We are seeking an experienced and committed Commercial Contracts Manager to provide commercial support to and help drive favourable commercial outcomes for Weir's Australian and APAC Minerals OEM and Aftermarket business. The role encompasses review and negotiation of tenders, customer supply contracts (including long-term forward purchase agreements), and, and addresses a broad range of other commercial issues for the business in the Australasian region.

The Commercial Contracts Manager reports directly to Director Strategy - APAC and works with Weir Minerals Sales Directors and General Managers, Weir APAC legal team and other key internal and external stakeholders to drive desired commercial outcomes.

The role can be based in Brisbane, Perth or Sydney.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support commercial contract negotiations for Weir's Australia and APAC Minerals businesses, including coordinating commercial review within tender deadlines; supporting GM review (or reviewing) commercial terms for tenders or in proposed customer supply contracts; obtaining required input / approvals from business stakeholders & legal teams; assist preparing, reviewing, and negotiating commercial risk ; and finalizing approval and execution by business for tender submissions and customer supply contracts (including, as required, preparing commercial summaries and presenting contracts to senior management for final sign-off and execution).

  • Oversee and review the execution and compliance to contracts and management of commercial contracts, including reviewing and managing variation requests, other change requests, directions, orders and notices under contract terms, and managing and finalizing contract completion.

  • Have knowledge on the Weir Group Commercial manual, and be able to review and understand the business risk and support business decisions

  • Support the Regional Strategic Leadership team (SLT) on commercial issues as and when they arise, such as warranties and delay.

  • Be familiar with Weir Group Insurance policies and advise the business on coverage issues in connection with customer supply contracts when required.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of tender and/or commercial contract experience as contract manager or advisor.

  • Mining/engineering/construction industry experience highly desirable but not required.

  • Ability to read, analyse, and understand commercial ramifications of contract provisions/ translate contract provisions for the business and manage exposure to deliver effective commercial solutions for the business.

  • Ability to draft legal contract amendments/clauses.

  • Good commercial sense as well as excellent commercial contracting skills.

  • Effective communicator who can speak fluently in lay terms to a range of audiences about the business and legal priorities , risk and challenges of the company.
