**JOIN A TEAM THAT ARE SUPPORTING RESILIENCE IN PACIFIC COMMUNITIES**
Climate change is rapidly transforming life in the Pacific. While Pacific people have adapted to environmental variation for thousands of years, the scale and speed of climate change today presents unique challenges to resilience at the community level.
You can find out more about the programme here.
**We are currently hiring **an implementation point person, based in Melbourne, who is passionate about addressing climate crises in the Pacific, to guide and mentor some of our Pacific teams to use the **_Climate Resilient Islands_** approach.**
**YOU ARE PERFECT FOR THIS ROLE IF**:
- You are committed to localising development and ‘doing development differently’. You are innovative, cross disciplinary and are committed to keeping up to date with new ways of working.
- You are comfortable working in the context of rapid change and are able to adapt to emerging challenges of programme implementation.
- You show leadership and initiative, can manage complex workloads independently but are also collaborative and a rapport builder.
- Your communication skills and experience with digital tools allow you to work with others even though they may not be in the same office as you.
- You have two or more years of experience working in the development sector working on the implementation of projects in the Pacific and are familiar with the cultural contexts of Pasifika communities.
- You have previously been responsible for reporting, work planning, budgeting and monitoring and evaluation.
- You understand principles of community development practice, and you demonstrate an understanding of climate change adaptation and/or nature-based solutions.
**WHAT THIS OPPORTUNITY WOULD MEAN TO YOU**:
- You will be part of a grassroots, community-led programme that is doing something about climate change.
- Each day will present unique challenges and rewards, both big and small.
- You will contribute to the localisation of development and the revitalisation of local knowledge in the Pacific.
- You will develop your own career and skills alongside a growing organisation.
**WHAT A DAY WORKING WITH US MIGHT INVOLVE**:
- Provide guidance to local teams as they work through resilience visioning, planning and action at a community level, through facilitation training, administrative support and regular check-in meetings.
- Connect local teams with technical experts and management staff in our network support office.
- Collaborate with local teams on quarterly-costed workplans, monitor progress against workplans and support local teams to adapt workplans in response to emerging challenges in the field.
- Document in-country progress on a quarterly basis and mentor local staff to develop reporting components.
- Strengthen the _Climate Resilient Islands_ approach in response to best practices and lessons learned from field implementation, as well as emerging ideas and developments from the sector.
- Advise and provide resources to Pacific office teams as they engage with the stakeholders and government counterparts who are critical to the success of the programme and the sustainability of its impacts.
- Visit teams in Pacific offices to provide support during important events with stakeholders.
- Support Pacific office teams in using established monitoring and evaluation tools to assess the impact of the _Climate Resilient Islands _
- Work with teams to tell stories that celebrate their work and share news about their work with donors, stakeholders, and the development sector.
- Provide administrative assistance to teams in their development of partnerships with government counterparts and other NGOs.
- Support the mainstreaming of cross-cutting areas such as Indigenous knowledge, gender, diversity and social inclusion across the programme.
