Australia is committed to supporting Pacific development in the weather, ocean and climate science in the Pacific sectors, as climate variability represents a major risk for most of these Pacific Island countries. The Bureau has been supporting the Pacific for over 30 years to build resilience for climate, oceans and extreme events.

The Bureau of Meteorology is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistical and Administrative - Program Support Officer to support the delivery of Pacific development activities.

Primarily you will provide high-level administration support, including preparation of a range of correspondence and reports, purchasing contracts, incorporating monitoring and projecting expenditures, record keeping, invoicing and preparation of financial summaries whilst implementing sound financial management practices, particularly in a project framework.

Support and coordination of the financial aspects of international travel for Bureau employees, contractors and guest travellers will also be a significant part of the requirements, including subsequent acquittals and reconciliations.

Whilst project teams travel on international missions, you will be committed to supporting them and implementing partners outside the scope of standard working hours (may also include weekends) as activities are delivered across 15 Pacific Island countries and territories, and different time zones. During such periods you will contribute to providing support to the needs of the team and may be required to undertake duties remotely and with limited supervision.

You will be highly motivated with a strong work ethic, and will be required to work with a high degree of independence in achieving the team's outputs in an accurate and timely manner.

Ideally you will have experience working on an international level and you will need to be comfortable working in a changing environment, liaising extensively and communicating effectively with multiple stakeholders, including Commonwealth agencies and international donors.
