The Smith Family is a children’s education charity that helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to create better futures for themselves through harnessing the power of education.
We are currently seeking casual facilitators to work across our participating schools in Canberra and Goulburn where our ‘Learning for Life’ students are enrolled. You facilitate to the whole class so everyone gets the benefit of these extra-curriculum programs. Programs run intermittently, as required by the participating schools. It would suit a facilitator with at least two available days per week. Scheduling can fit around your other part time/casual work/study commitments. We pay $50 an hour, minimum of three hours per day of deliveries.
**The primary focus of one role is Money Talks - Certificate I in Basic Financial Literacy. This involves**:
- Facilitating 2.5 hours a week over 6 weeks, in a school term, delivering the Certificate I in Basic Financial Literacy to senior high school students (Money Talks).
- The facilitator MUST have a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to be qualified to deliver this program.
- TSF offers you training for all other requirements, including free access to the Cert I in Basic Financial Literacy.
- Facilitating engaging sessions to high school students for 1.5 hrs a week for 5 weeks about budgets and savings etc that is not a Certificate program (Keep the Change)
- One hour a week for 6 weeks program to assist Year 6 students transition to secondary school (Passport to Success)
- Increasing Years 4-6 and/or junior secondary students’ knowledge of the world of work, and how these relate to their own interests and strengths in 5-7 one-hour sessions (Future Seekers)
- and other programs including Entrepreneurship and Career activities.
- Demonstrated qualifications and/or experience in the delivery of training programs or classroom-based learning.
- A current drivers’ license, access to a reliable and insured vehicle and a willingness to travel up to one hour each way to deliver the program sessions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with people from various backgrounds.
- Highly developed organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage your time effectively.
- Commitment to The Smith Family’s Facilitator Quality Standards, informed by existing frameworks including the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
- A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and interest in financial literacy is required for the Money Talks (Certificate 1 in Basic Financial Literacy).
