The Director of National Parks (the Director) is responsible for six national parks, the Australian National Botanic Gardens, 58 Australian Marine Parks and the Heard Island and McDonald Islands Marine Reserve established under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

Parks Australia is the federal park agency that supports the Director, and they are a division of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the Department). We work to showcase these natural and cultural wonders to the world, demonstrating to all why these places are so special, and inspiring communities to become more invested in their care and future.

The Business Support Unit provides the administrative and financial management support to the program and project delivery teams.

**The Job**
In this role you will be responsible for:

- Manage program and project budgets and schedules across the capital infrastructure program - Overseeing financials for a program of infrastructure projects including the reporting, governance and accountability
- Facilitating relationships between internal and external park finance managers, directors and project managers
- Managing staff to undertake financial tasks within the PGPA Act and accounting rules
- Keeping diverse stakeholders informed across program financials - Managing high level corporate responsibilities and balance with on ground delivery considerations
- Improving the efficiency of financial and budget processes.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
- Experience in the management and reporting of program and project budgets associated with a capital infrastructure program.
- Experience with establishing and maintaining working relationships involving Executive staff, internal and external park finance managers, directors and project managers.
- Sound knowledge and experience in leading staff to undertake financial tasks within the PGPA Act and accounting rules
- Knowledge of program and project financial reporting practices
- Experience in delivering improved efficiency of financial and budget processes.

**Skills and capabilities**
- Ability to facilitate positive working relationships across wide range of stakeholders
- Business and financial acumen
- Ability to implement financial and program budget strategy
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Experience with financial software such as SAP and/or Technology One
- Construction or capital works background
- Ability to hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle drivers licence.

**Eligibility and other requirements**

**Citizenship**
- To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.

**Security Clearance**
- This position requires a
**Baseline Vetting** security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
