About the opportunity

We are seeking 2 highly motivated individuals to lead a small team to undertake the maintenance and landscape improvement works of our public open space areas on a permanent, full-time basis.

This fast-paced role is responsible for maintaining our formal gardens and landscaped areas. The preferred candidate will lead the Maintenance crew in the servicing and maintenance of our premier passive open space area to ensure a high-level, quality horticultural service is performed and the landscape finish remains safe, attractive and inviting to use to our park visitors.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

• Minimum Cert III in Parks and Gardens or a related area with solid working experience in open space operations
• Chemical application accreditation
• Current class MR driver's licence
• Experience supervising small teams
• Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
• Demonstrated commitment to customer service
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Availability to work rostered overtime as required.

Desirable:

• Current First Aid certificate
• Traffic controller accreditation
• Chainsaw operation certificate of competency.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.

• Entry level for this position starts at $1,408.84 per week
• 38-hour working week
• Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
• Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
