- Salary Package: from $93,017 to $102,676 per annum (HEW Level 6) pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading
- Appointment Type: part-time, 3-4 days preferred, 12 months fixed-term

THE ROLE

The Role

The ARC Centre of Excellence in Synthetic Biology (CoESB) is seeking an experienced project officer to provide high quality, practical and efficient project support, governance support, and administration for major strategic initiatives within the CoESB.

The focus of the position will be on providing superior support for the delivery of projects and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals with a focus on business and governance related activities. It will have a focus on supporting the CoESB in their ARC mid-term review, as well as the rebid for the renewal of the CoESB. The position will be supporting across governance, policy and project work, grant development and working business operations to support both the Chief Operating Officer and Strategic Bid Lead.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer with a dotted line to the Strategic Initiatives Lead, you will:- Plan and provide support for projects and initiatives, supporting the operational teams in planning, review, data collection and analysis, including reports.- Coordinate project administration, including coordination of meetings, minute taking, managing assigned actions and follow
- ups and project status reporting.- Act as the primary contact for key internal and external stakeholders, maintaining effective channels of communication, analysing requests and correspondence to prioritise as well as urgent and sensitive matters.- Coordinate workshops and events for the project, including catering, room and venue bookings, liaison with stakeholders, routine correspondence, management of registrations, coordination of feedback surveys and other duties as required.- Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with key contacts within ARC COESB, across the University, external stakeholders, and other nodes and partner organisations as required and schedule meetings with key contacts to ensure effective consultation and collaboration.

About You

You will be a motivated and proactive project officer with excellent communication skills and a strong track record of working in business operations, project coordination, or administration roles. You will possess a project background with focus on coordination and support for large-scale delivery. You will have an interest in further developing your business acumen and skills in project management, governance, and research management.

You will have experience successfully working across a diverse range of stakeholders and be comfortable in complex, service-oriented environments. Your strong relationship management skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, your time management, organisational skills, and excellent attention to detail will ensure success in this role.

The ARC Centre of Excellence in Synthetic Biology (CoESB) is administered by Macquarie University (the hub) and has 9 nodes at Australian Universities consisting of 19 Chief Investigators and 19 partner organisations located in Australia and throughout the world. We provide the technical innovation critical for Australia to develop a vibrant bioeconomy building on the nation’s strengths in agriculture. For thousands of years, we have used microbes to create bread, wine, cheese. Now, our Centre will pioneer new approaches to the design of synthetic microbes, enabling the development of custom-designed microbial communities, synthetic organelles and new to nature biological pathways and enzymes. CoESB will combine engineering with molecular biology to design and construct novel biological systems that can convert biomass from agriculture or waste streams to biofuel, bioplastics and other high-value chemicals.
