THE ROLE
The Faculty of Arts at Macquarie University is a large and dynamic Faculty that is implementing a new multi-year strategic plan to continue its ascendant trajectory in teaching and research. The Faculty’s vision includes significant teaching innovation, the development of high impact research initiatives, and a multi-layered long term vision for industry and public engagement.
The Faculty is seeking a Project Officer to support the smooth administration of a range of innovative projects that fulfill the generous grant from the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation to share Macquarie University’s latest research in education and enhance educational practice and outcomes in Australian schools and early childhood education settings through Macquarie’s Academy of Continuing Professional Development in Education (ACPDE).
Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Projects, with close direction from the ACPDE Project Manager, and within the wider Strategic Projects team, the position is responsible for providing practical and efficient support for the delivery of projects for the Academy. This role will work with the academic leadership of the Faculty as well as the academic and professional staff within the Macquarie School of Education, to support various projects and initiatives for the Academy, and will pull together cross-functional teams from across the University to deliver them.
The role will support the ACPDE projects to be developed and managed in an integrated and consistent manner and will support the assessment and management of project risks appropriately whilst adhering to relevant professional standards and regulations of the NSW Education sector.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised, effective and experienced project officer to play a key role the development and implementation of Education-based projects within a collaborative and rewarding work environment.
Key Accountabilities- Support the delivery of projects and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals-
- Plan and provide support for projects and initiatives, supporting the Project Manager for ACPDE, in planning, review, data collection and analysis, including reports- Coordinate project administration including coordination of meetings, minute taking, manage assigned actions and follow-ups and project status reporting- Act as the primary contact for key internal and external stakeholders, maintaining effective channels of communication, analysing requests and correspondence to prioritise priorities as well as urgent and sensitive matters- Support the implementation of systems and processes for enabling project deliverables- Coordinate and create communications for the project using social media channels and internal and external websites as required- Coordinate workshops and events for the project, including catering, room bookings, liaison with stakeholders, routine correspondence, online and venue bookings, management of registrations, coordination of feedback surveys and other duties as required- Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with key contacts within Faculty and across the University, as required and schedule meetings with key contacts to ensure effective consultation and collaboration- Comply with relevant professional standards and codes of ethics and EEO and WHS regulations.- Perform any other duties as required and appropriate for this classification
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced- Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders-
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative- Project experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands
