The Inspector-General for Emergency Management (IGEM) is an independent statutory role established under the _Emergency Management Act 2013_ that provides assurance to government and the community in respect of emergency management arrangements in Victoria. The Inspector-General is supported by a dedicated team of people provided through the Department of Justice and Community Safety.

In 2024, IGEM developed the _Assurance and Continuous Improvement Priorities 2025-2029_ which will guide our work over the next five years. The priorities are:
- Community preparedness
- Training and exercising
- Recovery
- Managing consequences.
In 2025 IGEM will focus on community preparedness and training and exercising.
IGEM would welcome a person who is passionate about conducting system wide evaluations and reviews who would value the opportunity to broaden their experience through a fixed-period position.
