**The Role**

As our **Maintenance Handyperson**, you’ll be the go-to for keeping our hostel running smoothly, safely and looking its best. You’ll handle day-to-day fixes, tackle preventative maintenance, and jump in where needed to support the team - whether that’s helping housekeeping flip a room, troubleshooting guest issues, or making sure public areas are clean, functional and welcoming.

From changing lightbulbs and unblocking drains to keeping things compliant and safe, you’re someone who notices the small stuff and takes pride in getting it right the first time.

Your day-to-day:

- Carry out general repairs and maintenance across the property.
- Assist with routine inspections and compliance checks (e.g. fire systems, lighting).
- Support early-morning prep to make sure shared spaces are guest-ready.
- Collaborate with housekeeping and front desk to resolve maintenance issues quickly.
- Keep public areas and outdoor spaces clean, safe, and looking sharp.
- Pitch in with laundry, housekeeping or other departments when needed.

**Who We Are Looking For**

We value team members who are reliable, practical, and take pride in their work. You’re a hands-on problem-solver with a proactive streak, always ready to jump in and help out - whether that means fixing a leak, supporting the housekeeping team, or keeping public areas looking sharp.

You’ve got some maintenance experience under your belt - whether in hospitality, trades, facilities, or a similar setting - and feel confident handling basic repairs, tools, and day-to-day upkeep.

You’re friendly and approachable, with a strong sense of responsibility for safety and guest comfort. You don’t wait to be asked - you notice what needs doing and get it done.

Flexibility is key, as Drifter operates 24/7. You’re open to working days, evenings, weekends, or public holidays as needed.

Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
