About the Role
Business Governance & Controls is ANZ’s Control Officer role in our Non-Financial Risk Framework. It is one of Seven critical accountability families across the Three Lines of Defence, that operate within the Group Risk Management Framework to ensure ANZ manages non-financial risk within appetite.
As the Control Officer for the Institutional Division, BG&C holds the following responsibilities:
Drives the cultural change and embedding of the NFR Framework and associated policy requirements on behalf of the business and its ultimate Line 1 Risk Owner;
Measure and monitor NFR, ensuring Line 1 operates within the Framework and Appetite;
Partner with Risk Owners to oversee the discharge of their accountabilities for end-to-end risk management within Line 1;
Advise Control Owners in their design and implementation of Controls suitable for managing Line 1 risks and meeting external and internal requirements;
Consolidate on behalf of Line 1, NFR stakeholder management, governance and Controls effectiveness testing;
Catalyst to identifying and understanding future and emerging strategic risks relevant to Line 1
The role of Lead for TB is a key leadership and stakeholder engagement role in supporting Risk & Control owners to effectively manage their risk profile and ensuring that key NFR activities are undertaken in a timely manner.

What will your day look like?
As a Business Governance & Controls Associate Director, TB, you are accountable for:
Partnering with Risk Owners and Control Owners to support them in discharging their responsibilities and accountabilities.
Oversee the consolidation of first line risk and control priorities and capability, assurance reporting,governance, and stakeholder management.
Ensuring the teams deliverables are well managed as per agreed standards and ANZ Non-Financial risk and Compliance framework
Supporting uplift in risk culture across TB and promoting 'risk is everyone's responsibility'.
Regularly review and monitor the effectiveness of controls and treatment plans
Identify emerging risk and issues
Continuously monitoring the external and internal business environment to identify and understand future and emerging strategic risks relevant to the Business
Providing audit engagement support and risk awareness initiatives
Maintaining quality and up-to-date data in the NFR Hub
Proactively identify process and control weaknesses and provide meaningful feedback to the business to mitigate operational risk and meet compliance obligations.
Succeeding through collaboration with the Business and other dependent teams.
Coaching and supporting the development of other team members
Collaborating with GCC Counterparts to ensure seamless and efficient execution of Control Officer responsibilities for TB and continuous improvement
Support the BU to implement proposed changes related to the I.AM Program by undertaking key adoption activities, including, but not limited to, data uplift, business readiness, change management, communications, and data migration
What will you bring?
To be successful in this role, you should either have these skills already or be passionate about developing them:
Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
Deep experience in the banking and financial services sector/experience or knowledge of TB
Demonstrated understanding of Non-Financial Risk Management at ANZ and the role of the Control Officer
Well-developed influencing and negotiation skills.
Production of high-quality written materials for a broad range of stakeholder audiences
Be curious and demonstrate an adaptive and growth mindset.
Demonstrated track record of working to deadlines attention to detail, being efficient and organised
Ability to use initiative, be proactive in taking action and persistent in addressing issues
Ability to build strong, open and collaborative working relationships
