**About the Role**
With a track-record of leading the development and activation of impactful public programs, you will collaborate with academics, professional staff, partners, and philanthropists to create innovative programs that elevate the Humanities and engage a wide range of audiences, including those not traditionally reached by Humanities-related events.
As the Creative Director, you will play a key role in fostering collaboration and alignment with partner institutions, which have previously included the State Library Victoria, National Gallery of Victoria, and Melbourne Writers’ Festival, Brotherhood of St Laurence and Being Human Festival (UK).
This three-year role offers an exciting opportunity to bring your vision and leadership to a pioneering initiative at one of the world’s leading universities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Shaping and advancing the vision for the Melbourne Public Humanities Initiative by developing innovative and inclusive public programming in collaboration with academics and Faculty leadership.
- Cultivating and managing partnerships with local, national, and international institutions, philanthropic supporters, and diverse audiences to enhance the reach and impact of Humanities-based initiatives.
- Leading and advising on existing public programmes and educational offerings, while identifying opportunities for new interdisciplinary projects that elevate public awareness of the Humanities.
- Overseeing and aligning operational plans, budgets, and strategic initiatives to ensure the effective delivery of programming and the long-term sustainability of the Initiative.

Your vision, adaptability, and enthusiasm for innovation will empower you to craft compelling narratives and programmes that resonate with a wide range of stakeholders, ensuring the Humanities remain vital and relevant in addressing today’s pressing societal questions.
You also have:
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline or significant experience in designing and delivering innovative public programmes within university, arts, or public contexts.
- Demonstrated expertise in collaborating with cultural producers, practitioners, and academics to create impactful and inclusive programming.
- Proven ability to engage diverse audiences and communities, showcasing a deep understanding of the value and relevance of the Humanities in public discourse and higher education.
- Strong financial and operational acumen, including experience in managing budgets, developing strategic plans, and implementing initiatives to achieve organisational goals.
