**About Us**:
Our newly established Engagement and Talent Acquisition portfolio is seeking an experienced, strategic and collaborative Principal Advisor to support our work leading and influencing the national and state-wide reforms focused on the teaching workforce.

**Your Role**:
Our Principal Advisor will work with the different business areas within the Engagement and Talent Acquisition portfolio, including the Workforce Strategy, Employment Incentives and Pathways, and Attraction and Engagement teams, to advise, inform and implement key actions aligned to the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan and related strategic initiatives.
As our Principal Advisor, this role will provide you with the opportunity to:

- provide strategic advice about the implementation of key actions aligned to the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan, including those being led or informed by the Engagement and Talent Acquisition Portfolio
- coordinate and deliver high-quality, timely, accurate and balanced advice, often within a changing environment and competing priorities
- act as an intermediary between a range of internal and external stakeholders including the department's Strategic Policy and Intergovernmental Relations, and Student and School Support portfolios, and with other government agencies and jurisdictions.
- identify emergent issues that may impact upon the strategic direction and priorities of the Portfolio, Branch, Division and Department.
- undertake research aligned to key national and departmental strategies, and that supports priority workforce initiatives.
- work collaboratively on, and as an advocate for programs and projects that provide opportunities to address current and emerging teacher workforce challenges.

**About You**:
**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- excellent written and verbal communication skills, and effective interpersonal skills.
- demonstrated experience in policy analysis and providing of strategic advice to senior executives, that contributes to and informs departmental and national priorities.
- confidence to work within and navigate briefing and approval processes within a large government agency.
- high level negotiation skills and an ability to identify, understand and connect strategic priorities and operational opportunities.
- an ability to juggle and prioritise multiple and sometimes competing requests for briefs, reports and plans.
- A strategic and empathetic leadership style in a complex and often sometimes challenging setting.
