**The opportunity**:
The purpose of the role is to ensure the best outcomes for our severely injured workers by supporting the Workers Care team with its decision making and knowledge management processes. The principles of collaboration and informed decision-making are central to this role and will be achieved by your critical reasoning skills and knowledge of evidence-based treatment, care and support options which are person-centred.

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as Review Officer, Workers Care you will:

- In carrying out the above accountability, understand how disability impacts on daily living and identify when the individual / and or their families would benefit from early intervention and/or other supports funded by icare and through other sources.
- Keep abreast of and champion the understanding of the legislative framework and Guidelines and the contribution to the decision-making framework.
- Support the knowledge management of research and advice on injury management and service delivery to people with severe injuries to identify gaps and barriers in service delivery and share this broadly across the business.
- In carrying out the above accountability, provide guidance and support to the operational staff to ensure the appropriate provision of services for people with severe injuries in a cost-effective manner. This includes specialist knowledge on best practice in interventions and supports including care programs; supports for community participation and assistive technology.
- Provide assistance and guidance to the Operational and Assessment & Reviews teams in the management of disputes and complaints.
- Work collaboratively with the Business Enablement and Service Delivery teams in the design and implementation of internal quality assurance and continuous improvement systems to drive quality and consistency in decision making.
- Work collaboratively with service providers to ensure the optimal delivery of programs to people with severe injuries.

**Your story so far**:

- From an Allied Health, disability, workers compensation or injury management background, you’ll use your critical reasoning skills to ensure a high degree of integrity in the decision-making process
- You will use your excellent verbal and written communication skills to build rapport and communicate complex information
- You will have the ability to make funding decisions on treatment, rehabilitation and care supports for people with severe injuries. You’ll understand how disability impacts on daily living and have an ability to review requests for attendant care supports. You will provide advice to maximize people’s independence and identify when the individual would benefit from early intervention and various types of supports.
- You will be a team player and you’ll work within a multi-functional team which has a diverse mix of committed and focused people who really care about making a difference for people and the NSW community. You will have a mind for getting things done and a heart for people. You’ll set the bar high through the quality of the work you do and the people-oriented decisions you make.
