Operations Manager

Brooklyn Boy Bagels - the producer of Australia’s best and most authentic bagels - is looking for an _Operations Manager_ within its popular Marrickville bakery to oversee its continued growth in bagels, artisan breads and pastry/viennoiserie.

**About the Position**

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for the day-to-day, hands-on supervision of warehousing, logistics, and production whilst working closely with other senior team members. You will be a part of a senior management team that is responsible for driving the company’s strategic and operational goals. It is a major advantage in our selection process for you to have strong experience in manufacturing, baking or production management.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

The operations manager will oversee all operations within Brooklyn Boy’s Marrickville bakery, including bagel & bread production, pastry, packing & delivery logistic, driving growth and organizational change. Responsibilities will include:

- Manage all operations and production outcomes in the Marrickville bakery
- Ensuring financial targets are met, including P&L accountability and cost control, by leading, identifying and executing cost-saving measures
- Ensure the production schedules are implemented, communicated, and completed in a timely and safe manner
- Actively drive development and improvement of current processes to improve and optimize operations
- Manage quality control of all products that leave the factory
- Quality Assurance, HACCP compliance and certification, and Work, Health & Safety (OH&S) program management
- Develop a cohesive team culture that reflects a positive work environment
- Recruitment & performance management of your team, including weekly check-ins, end-of-year reviews and hiring additional or replacement staff as needed
- Supervise, train, coach and develop staff to promote a productive environment with a culture of continual improvement
- Develop and enforce proper SOPs in use throughout the bakery
- Work in conjunction with technical departments to identify, notify, and troubleshoot any current or potential future issues
- Procurement and supplier negotiations (equipment + materials)
- New and existing product development
- Maintain relationships with internal and external auditors

**The Right Person**
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, or experience in running a mid-sized bakery
- Previous manufacturing and production experience highly desired
- Highly self-motivated individual with the capability to work collaboratively with excellent organizational skills and impeccable eye for detail
- Technical skills to continually improve bakery efficiency, hygiene and quality
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Proven track record of leading a bakery or hospitality team, and the ability to manage a team of 10+ people
- Familiar with HACCP and GMP programs, and a strong understanding of various Australian Food Safety standards
- Financial and commercial acumen - experienced in and controls of wages, margins, P&L, and expenses
- Flexibility to work a combination of mornings, afternoons, evenings, along with weekends and ability to work public holidays.

We are a skyrocketing business, growing from a pop-up concept several years ago to our current wholesale and retail bakery operations in Marrickville. We are a 9-year-old business that has seen strong double-digit growth every year, stemming from of a diverse business serving some 150 wholesale customers, supermarkets & groceries, hotels, a sizeable portfolio of farmer’s markets, and our own retail café.
